Hydrologic and Carbon Cycle video notes
CARBON CYCLE
All living things require what to create their bodies?
All living things require carbon in order to live.
What percentage of the human body is Carbon?
The human body has approximately 50% of carbon.
What happens to Carbon in the ocean? How does it get there? Where does it go?
Ocean absorbs a lot of carbon matter. This is because it gets more easily dissolved and underwater plants will use it for the Chemosynthetic process. However, so much carbon in the ocean affect marine life.
What are shells made of? What happens when they fall to the bottom of the ocean?
One interesting fact is that shells are made of carbon and photosynthesis. When these fall apart at the bottom of the ocean , they become rocks.
What happens to Limestone when it is dissolved in water?
When Limestone gets dissolved into the water, it releases carbon dioxide or carbonic acid.
What is positive feedback loop?
A positive feedback loop, is what we called when methane and carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere helping greenhouse gases to continue doing their cycles.

Hydrological Cycle
What are Biogeochemical Cycles?
Earth is full of cycles. They are pathway for molecules such as phosphorus , water or elements that move through all the Earth.
What is a Reservoir of water?
Reservoir of water are different forms of water. It depends in how water is being held and different cycles occur in different places.
What is Evaporation? Where does most of evaporation take place on Earth?
Evaporation is the process in where a liquid matter changes it state to a gas or start condensing. Most of the evaporation take place at the ocean because this is a huge body of liquid matter that do this cycle over and over again.
Sublimation?
Is when a matter is in a solid state and converts straight to a gas state.
Deposition?
Deposition is when a matter becomes a gas.
What is Condensation?
Condensation is the process in where gas matter start condensing or forming clouds that contain cool vapor , so that after cool down it can not be a gas anymore.
What is Runoff? Where does it ultimately end up?
Runoff is the process in where gravity intervenes by pulling down all the liquid matters. They mostly end at the lowest point underground or it gets absorbed by the ground thanks to Runoff process.
Why are oceans salty?
Ocean are salty because when water gets pull by gravity to the ocean it carries all the minerals that get from the ground on earth.
What are the 3 ways that the human body loses water?
The 3 ways where the body can loose water is when water gets evaporated from our skin , such as sweat. Another can be by being dehydrated and not having enough liquid.
What is evapotranspiration?
Is the process in where plants absorb the water through they stem and then this is transported to their leafs , that after a couple of minutes will become evaporated from them. It's also the responsible for enter water to the atmosphere.
